While all eyes were on a certain match in Indonesia yesterday (spoiler alert Son can stay in England forever) it’s time now to turn our attention back to the bread and butter of the K-League One. There were a couple of K1 games played yesterday as Seoul’s miserable season continued with a turgid 0-0 down in Gangwon while Jeonnam heaped more pressure on Jorn Andersen with a victory against the Army to put them 4pts clear with a game in hand.
Today’s ‘Match of the Day’ is the visit of Jeonbuk to Gyeongnam as 1st and 2nd clash. Jeonbuk suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of Suwon Bluewings midweek as their dreams of a K-League and Asian Champions League double were left in tatters, a Dejan inspired 3-0 for Bluewings seeing fit to that. They are of course 11pts clear in the K1 but it’s safe to say this season will go down as a disappointment after the amount of money spent in the close season. Marcao will be looking to exploit any weaknesses in the Jeonbuk back-line, and trust me there are a lot, while keeper Lee Bum-soo will be looking for a repeat of the form he showed last time the teams clashed.
Elsewhere Bluewings travel to Daegu under the guidance of caretaker Manager Kim Joon-sik and will look to build on both that midweek win and the departure of the much maligned Seo. Ulsan make the long journey to Incheon hoping to both capitalize on any slip-ups in Changwon while also keeping their impressive run of victories going. Pohang host Jeju in a match that will be a close one to call, Jeju have been shocking of late and have plumetted the table while Pohang themselves have only won three of the last five but somehow sit a lofty 5th in the table, lofty by The Steeler’s recent standards that is.
Predictions for the games are below.
