Asian Champions League 2019 – Groups Drawn

The group stages for next year’s Asian Champions League have been drawn and we are really no further forward as to who will play who given that three of the federations haven’t completed their domestic season yet. Despite this however, from those teams that have been drawn already there are some intriguing fixtures awaiting us next year as.

K-League champions Jeonbuk will meet Thai champions Buriram United in a repeat of this year’s last 16 clash which saw the Koreans emerge as victors after losing the first leg in Thailand 3-2. Kawasaki Frontale and Shanghai SIPG will also lock horns again after meeting each other in the group stages of this year’s competition, with the Chinese edging things with a 1-0 victory in Japan and a home draw. And for the football enthusiast among you we will finally get to see Johor Darul Tazim take to the field in the groups after bowing out in the playoffs in each of the last four years.

Next year’s ACL will also see a debut for Korea’s Gyeongnam FC after they surpassed the expectations of even the most optimistic among their support by finishing 2nd in the league and therefore clinching a spot in Group E alongside Johor.

We will keep you updated as the groups continue to take shape, below are the groups as things stand.
