Last week was one of the highest scoring weekends I can remember in K-League (not counting Seoul getting humped 6-0 by Daegu) with an incredible 28 goals scored over the weekend. We had the first ‘Supermatch’ of the year and it was definitely one for the neutrals as the game finished 3-3 with Bluewings owning the 1st half and Seoul running the show in the 2nd. League leaders Jeonbuk saw their lead cut as they slipped up in Sangju, losing 1-0, while Ulsan absolutely pummeled Incheon in a 4-1 rout. Seongnam’s poor run continued as they lost 4-0 at home to a Song Min-yu inspired Pohang (pictured in preview photo). And we amazingly had two 4-2 victories as firstly Busan defeated Gangwon and then Daegu brought Gwangju back down to Earth,
This week promises to be another cracking weekend as The Army travel to Incheon brimming with confidence, Seongnam travel to Jeonbuk full of dread and Lee Lim-saeng takes his Bluewings team to Pohang full of nonsensical lineups and tactics!
Friday football is back on the menu in the K-League One this weekend as FC Seoul make the journey South to face a Busan team who are undefeated in their last four league matches. Seoul did come from 3-1 down last time out but let’s be honest it was against Bluewings and they have developed their own version of football social distancing more often than not this season. Busan have started getting the results that their performances deserve after coming away from games against Pohang an Jeonbuk without a point despite playing well, it will be interesting to watch whether they can continue their recent run once they face the ‘bigger’ teams in the league again.
Prediction : Home Win : Busan 2 Seoul 1
The Match of the Weekend will undoubtedly be in Daegu as they host 2nd placed Ulsan in a game which sees Jo Hyun-woo return to this old club, something the Marketing team were keen to point out. Daegu started slowly but have been more than impressive of late with Cesinha and Edgar being perfectly supported by the experience of Dejan who is showing just how ridiculous a decision it was not to play him last season at Bluwings. Ulsan recovered from that defeat to Jeonbuk the previous week with a thumping victory over Incheon with Junior bagging a hat-trick. They should have too much for Daegu but it will be close and there may very well be quite a few goals despite the talent of both team’s goalkeepers.
Prediction : Away Win : Daegu 1 Ulsan 2
