The Big news before a ball has been kicked in this week’s games was the departure, finally, of Suwon Bluewings manager Lee Lim-saeng. Lee has been responsible for some of the most bizarre tactical decisions and starting XI’s that you are likely to see in the K-League but still managed a win ratio of roughly around 34% which isn’t exactly terrible. It’s time to say goodbye Lee but you definitely gave the non-Bluewngs fans some stories to add to the ‘banter years’ and for that we thank you
Last week started on Friday as Busan continued their good run of form by beating FC Seoul 2-0, which given the above departure of Lee you do wonder just how shaky that coat hook is that’s holding up Seoul’s Choi jacket. Seongnam went to Jeonju and surprisingly didn’t sit back and attacked Jeonbuk from kick-off. They led the Champions 2-0 at half-time but a combination of forced substitutions and reinvigorated Jeonbuk after the break saw the game finish 2-2. That draw gave Ulsan the chance to go top and they took it in style, defeating Daegu 3-1 away. Elsewhere in the bottom six there were 1-1 draws for Bluewings and Incheon while Gangwon thumped Gwangju 4-1. Those results leave four teams in the bottom six locked on 10pts while Ulsan open up a 1pt gap at the top.
